Still feeling the sting of Luke's departure but that stinging was made more "tangy" by the arrival of a fat envelope with the details of my teaching appointment. The joy of being part time as opposed to casual, and of being an 'Associate Lecturer' instead of a plain old tutor means I get paid before I begin teaching... woot! Preparation is actually acknowledged!!

Had a delightful conversation with my newly verbal 18 month old brother. He chatted away gleefully while i interjected at various points to see if I could get a reaction to some requests. "Say 'miaow' like a miewmiew (his name for a cat)" received a loud squeaky squawky noise; "say your name for me" generated "o-gah" which really is quite a good attempt at 'Oskar'. I miss him terribly - he'll be practically pubescent by the time I get to Sydney in September.
