The Seth Cohen Starter Pack

If it wasn't for The OC that yearning chasm left by the departure of the Buffyverse from my TV might still be there. But how can I feel loss when now I have my innate desire for indulgent teen soap merged and repackaged with more coolsie pop references than one can poke a mini iPod at. And what it all comes down to is that It'sAllAboutSethCohen™.

seth and annaSeth is what was always missing for me from 90210, Dawson, Part of Five and the rest. He's the affable dork that we secretely lusted after in high school, but instead stayed polite friends with. He's cute, he's on the skinny side with difficult hair and Chuck Taylor's glued to his feet. He's the guy we imagined all those cute dorks on the bus would be had we let our anonymous crushes have a real life - funny, well read, culturally literate and with a plastic horse buddy called Captain Oats.

Had a real life Seth Cohen offered me a 'Starter Pack' at age 16 I would certainly have keeled over in nerd girl lust. The Chrismukkah episode which aired here last week saw Seth confirm his position as UltimateCoolsieDork in my heart, with his construction of the Seth Cohen Starter Pack for his two courting laydees: Death Cab, The Shins, Bright Eyes, The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay and The Goonies DVD.

Swoon.

Now I wish I'd watched The OC when it was on here in the States! Of course, the second season starts next week, so I could catch it, but now I'm a season behind...

yvette, you must watch The OC this week and focus your radar on Seth and Anna. May their polished and cultivated nerdy goodness enlighten you :)

Dammit! Why oh why did they have to put somebody as magnificently talented as Mr Oberst on some over-rated teen show, Bright Eyes are amazing and don't need some massive US company promoting them, it's not what they're about! And when did it become cool to like emo? Suddenly Death Cab and all the rest have become massively popular with the teens that watch and live by the OC, they look up and buy the 'Seth Cohen starter pack' and say they like emo. -come on kids, listen to the music you enjoy, don't buy it coz some fictional 'emo boy' in a capitalist American wank show tells you to.

yea i totally agree with J^
people should be themseleves, it pisses me off seeing 12 year olds walking round acting like a character of t.v, it makes emo and indi music look bad!
