Oh be still my fangirl heart

I didn't think The O.C could better Buffy for pomo smarts in spite of taking up the batton with flair. Until last night that is...
Paris Hilton:Hey
Seth: Hi. How’s it goin’?
P: Uhh, I am so exhausted
S: Yeah?
P: Yeah, I’ve been up all night working on my thesis
S: …
P: “Magical Realism in American Literature”. Are you familiar with the works of Thomas Pynchon?
S: I’ve only read The Crying of Lot 49.
P: Gravity’s Rainbow is his masterpiece!
S: … [nods slowly, mouth agape]
P: [moves forward] Don’t tell anyone I’m in grad school.
S: [quickly] Okay…
This episode - "The L.A" - just made me blow my fangirl load with its note-perfect reflexivity and self depracation. I wouldn't be surprised if it proves to be the archetypal O.C moment. Bless you Josh Schwartz.

LOL! blow your fangirl load. oh my god, that is so funny!!!! :D
i can totally relate, the paris cameo was my favourite part of last night's ep, i thought the rest was a tad boring. summer shat me, anna was blatantly M.I.A. and marissa needs to eat a kebab, or something. i always
i saw this t-shirt on a celebrity in NW magazine wearing a t-shirt that said PARIS FOR PRESIDENT along with a beatles yellow-submarine type image of her, all swirly hair etc. i want one!
with the thesis lack of motivation thing i completely understand. i think it's just one big rollercoaster of self-doubt combined with occasional injections of confidence and lust for thesis writing. it is for me, anyway. after a seminar i went to a few weeks ago on how to get published (was for phd's of course but i went anyway), i've pretty much decided that once i've finished hons i'm going to have a big, big break. perhaps 30 is a good age to give birth to a phd, i'm thinking. at the ripe old age of 23, i'm just happy with that extra 'hons' after my 'BA'.

It was wonderful, wasn't it? I said to my mother in delight "it's so pomo!" And then I paused and said, "Pomo is short for postmodernism."
And much like Seth, she nodded slowly and said, "Riiiight." ;)
