yo ho ho
So now we're in that period between Xmas and New Year where everything seems to be in limbo. Half the stores are closed, the other half are packed with rodents in hunt of a bargain. It's nearly Luke's birthday, and he hasn't taken me shopping for that extra acoustic geetahr he wants. I'm feeling crafty and in need of creative projects yet all the presents are done, so I've started on stuff for myself and little bro Oskar and my ma's birthdays...
Christmas turned out to be a hell of a lot better than we had imagined it would be. It would be the first one where Luke and I were alone (without family) and even though we're not so into the whole shebang, I began to invest a lot of emotional weight in it. I planned a seafood feast (since we don't eat the stuff that often, but still lapsed vegos) and wrapped all the presents super early. I got in a tizz when he didn't do the same and had a minor tantrum that he didn't care that we were going to be all alone even though a week before, I'd felt the same... In the end we decided to open presents on Christmas Eve, Euro stylee, just to shake things up a bit and keep it fresh.
I was quietly buzzing at the awesome tee I had picked up from Corky St Clair for him. He's such a fusspot and really particular about what prints he'll wear (usually none) but I felt pretty confident that this was one awesome shirt. Cloud-trees, a mountain and lots of wierd mutant monster types frolicking through, and all on a nice quality charcoal cotton tee. Good stuff. And indeed he did love it. And it fits him, unlike most of his clothes which he buys two sizes too big.
I of course scored a copy of Stitch'n Bitch Nation and some mammoth balls of beautiful yarn from Bendy Woolen Mills. Plus a swingin CD of hot tracks from Francophone femmes from the 60s and numerous other bits and bobs. And somehow, the kitties managed to find the time outside their busy schedules of licking and frolicking to buy us seasons one and two of Six Feet Under on DVD, and a giant inflatable penguin which stands 1.3 metres tall. Hmmm...
We've only just finished eating all the seafood and today it's rainy and gloomy so I'll be clacking needles most of the day I think.
And in the spirit of a creatively productive New Year, why not head on over and sign up for Mixtrade 2005 at emotionlotion? Do it.

i am not much taller than your penguin...
