whines and marvels

It's been a funny week...

I spent the first half stupidly developing an ulcer over our unresolved ADSL application. The estimated installation date passed, and passed some more, and still nothing. So our ISP got on Telstra's case and it became apparent that they fucked up. Failed to inform our provider that because of some serious mismanagement in the bowels of the telcomm, our local exchange had run out of slots. Run out. And even better - they won't be installing new ones until some time in April. This is for real. The company who has sole control and ownership of telecommunications infrastructure in this country can't even be arsed to, like, plan ahead. To make forecasts for what provisions will be needed based on the current rate of broadband uptake.

Luke is keen to right an angry letter. I was concerned that this was part of some grand conspiracy to convince Mr and Mrs Suburbia that the company is so mismanaged that only privatisation will solve the problems. But write that angry letter he will - he's on a roll now.

Later in the week...

I got some bad news about the health of a dear relative so in order to cheer myself up, I suggested to Luke that we go out on a TeenageMallDreamDate™. And that we did. Dinner at The Pancake Parlour even. And I only let him get to second base, because I'm Not That Kind of Girl, y'know? Unfortunately, we didn't have the vigorous imaginations to go all out and actually see a suitable film, so we reverted to our tired old selves and settled for Sideways. It had its moments, but I just don't really 'get' wine.

But today...

Our newest addition taunted us with what is unimistakably her Evil Genius. We watched as she managed to pry open the back door by maneuvering the screen door in such a way as to wedge the handle open. Then after pushing her weight against the door to open it, she sidled outside, pivoted and once again leaned against the door in order to close it after her. I'm not kidding. I kind of wish I was. Now I'm somewhat scared of this little mogwai creature.
